Fremont County in Colorado has a rich diversity of world-class geology and paleontology. The geologic history of Fremont County begins with 1.7 billion year old Precambrian rock.  Cañon City and the surrounding counties contain some of the richest geological history in America, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to study it in place. &
